CHECK OUT FLOYDS SECOND FLOOR PHOTOS

In 2009 Floyd’s remodeled the second floor Check out the pics. This space has proved to be a hit for crowds looking to play pool, skee-ball, air hockey, darts, and more. The space also has restrooms and a private bar. All these add up to make the second floor the ideal space to host your next birthday, class reunion, or holiday party.

Floyd’s Thirst Parlor was established in 2002 to bring another option to the nightlife scene in the downtown of Springfield, Illinois. There were other bars in this area at the time but the the owners envisioned a new bar that would be comparable to some of the establishments they had visited on vacations. The building that would house Floyd's had some interesting history.

During the 1950's the premises housed a women’s clothing store named Floyd’s. The premises continues to bear a hallmark of this prior "Floyd’s" in the terrazo in front of the premises. As such, our name was already set in stone - literally! The “Thirst Parlor” portion of the name came from research done on the block that indicated that at one point there were no less than six “Thirst Parlors” on this section of Fifth Street. And so, Floyd's Thirst Parlor was born. The name would not be the only difference between Floyd's and other bars operating in Springfield. Floyd's would be a place where an individual could get a varied selection of beer, wine, and spirits to quench their thirst. We have continued this tradition of unique offerings by bringing in new products and constantly updating our drink menus.

In 2005 Floyd's remodeled the space where the Coney Island had been located to make room for new women's restrooms, a game room, and a radio station. This addition proved to be a major hit for private parties and people interested in playing games. (The additional ladies room also helped to alleviate the lines that constantly formed for the original ladies bathroom.)
